Small-Batch Freshly Roasted Coffee

French Truck Coffee is a family-owned specialty coffee company based out of New Orleans, Louisiana, with locations across the South. Our mission is simple - great coffee, great food, and great service.

We start with a meticulous search for green coffee, traveling the globe each year, from Ethiopia to Colombia and several places in between, to find the highest quality coffee from farmers who are dedicated to the integrity of their product.  We then fully commit to small-batch roasting to produce an array of flavor profiles to highlight the intricacies of the quality of our coffee. Sourcing and roasting with intention will always be at the core of what we do.

Our dedication to freshness has led us to build tailor-made roasteries in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Memphis so that you are getting the most freshly-roasted coffee possible, whether you’re in one of our thirteen locations or you’re brewing a fresh cup right at home.

When it comes to great coffee, we do all of the work so that anyone can taste the difference of freshly-roasted, high-quality coffee.

If you want to dive deep with us into the heady coffee world of cuppings, flavor profiles, and quality ratings, come on down! We regularly rotate our exclusive pour-over offerings, use a variety of different preparation methods like our meticulously-crafted 12 hour iced Oji drip method, and host cuppings for those who want to learn more about specialty coffee.

If you want just a cup of coffee or an iced drink, we’ve also got you covered. From classic coffee drinks, to a variety of high-quality teas, like our beloved Matcha sourced directly from Wazuka, Japan, to our blueberry lavender lemonade, the quality of our craft will shine through no matter what.

We take the same specialty coffee approach to the rest of French Truck. We bake all of our own pastries in-house in our commissary kitchen in New Orleans, where our own in-house delivery drivers pick them up and deliver them fresh to our cafes bright and early every single morning.

The vibrant, welcoming atmosphere of our cafes is an extension of how we aim to serve and bring people together. For those who can’t be with us in person, there is also a devoted and growing community of French Truck fans across the US ordering their bags of beans online.

What’s with the Truck?

French Truck started in 2012 when its founder, Geoffrey Meeker, had the best cup of coffee he’d ever had from a bag of beans roasted just the day prior. He had a vision of bringing the future of coffee, known as specialty coffee, to New Orleans, a town rich in coffee history that hadn’t yet caught the “third wave” of coffee.

Not coincidentally, Bobby Winston had a similar vision. As a New Orleans native who had been living out West, Bobby saw what was going on with coffee and also wanted to bring traceable, freshly-roasted coffee to New Orleans. Soon thereafter, he met Geoffrey, who had already begun microroasting on a 5-kilo roaster in the laundry room of his house. A partnership was formed - Bobby became Employee Number 1 of French Truck, and would later become a co-owner a few years after that.

As the company started out roasting coffee for neighbors and popping up at farmers’ markets, they needed a way to deliver their precious beans that was more professional than just piling them into their cars. Enter the iconic French Truck. These old vintage trucks were a cheaper alternative to a traditional delivery truck and they were actually made to deliver fresh goods back in the day with its long back and double door opening. When you would order a bag of coffee, it would be roasted the next morning and delivered to your house.  To this day, we are still roasting coffee to order. Pretty soon, people started noticing the yellow truck driving around town and the rest is history.

Though it would be impossible to deliver all of French Truck’s coffee in one of those vintage trucks now, you can still see the yellow truck driving around today spreading the word about French Truck’s exceptional coffee. Let us know if you spot it, snap a picture, and drop us a line!
